The National Picture Gallery's triennial Outwin Boochever Portrait Competition celebrates quality in the art of portraiture. It is the realization of Virginia Outwin Boochever's gift to the Smithsonian and the country, a testimony to the transformative power of one individual to make an effect. The Biennial 2026,, marks 4 decades of photographic arts and education programming in Houston, Texas. It provides crucial works and styles from the 20 previous biennials between 1986 and 2024, with more than 450 artists from the United States and 58 nations represented.
